Written by award-winning author Candy Gourlay, this young adult novel is about Andi and her 8-foot tall Filipino half-brother Bernardo. Andi is a short but amazing basketball player who dreams of playing for her new school's basketball team. Bernardo, on the other hand, only wishes to be with his family in London. Both reunite in the UK and struggle to adjust to their new circumstances.
From the start, the idea was to find out how to highlight Bernardo's incredible height. Other elements to consider were the UK setting and the prominence of the game of basketball in the story.
